Maybe the falling prices on LCD TV and Plasma TV is not enough... The new Laser Technology promises to be both cheaper and better than todays LCD-screens and Plasma-screens. Arasor from Australia and Novalux from Silicon Valley has bounded together and are promising a new laser TV product that will be half the thickness and half the price of todays LCD and Plasma TV-screens and will be able to give about 90% of the visible light-spectra (Plasma TV gives about 35%).
The news from Arasor is that they have developed a new opto-electronic chip that will be used together with the Novalux laser technology. Not only will this effect the thickness and prices of the TV-sets, it will also mean less energy consumed and a clearer TV image. This new technology wll probably come forward the same time as the SED-technlogy, sometime early 2008. Manufacturers that lead the way will be Mitsubishi, Samsung, Sony.
Novalux hit like a bomb last year when they presented the New Laser TV Tecnology. Everyone on CeBIT could see the vast difference on the rear-projection TV with Laser TV technology that Sony had built for them, contrasted to the older DLP, LCD and PDP (Plasma TV) systems.
